Stanford University: Maps and Records

Student Access and Requests Maps and Records Home

Requests for Stanford University class projects:

Students should arrange for the course instructor to send email to Maps and Records as notification of the request. If the general focus of the course will necessitate students’ ongoing document research, instructors should contact Maps and Records with the pertinent information prior to the beginning of classes.

Please direct email to our Client and Office Service Representative, at maps-requests@mailman.stanford.edu.
The message should include:

  • Course name and description
  • Instructor’s name
  • Student’s name, if request is for an individual
  • Description of the project including type of data needed, area where data is needed, etc.

Please note: Student requests for information must be approved by the Manager of Maps and Records prior to delivery. Student requests for ANY utilities data must be approved by the Associate Director of Facilities Operations for Utilities. Additional time may be necessary to complete these steps.

Requests for information about a student or group residence:

Student requests for residential plans must be approved by Student Housing Services. Requests should be directed to Clark Vitt, Housing Facilities Manager, 672 Lomita Drive, or via email to tuttle@stanford.edu.

The emailed request should include the student’s name, the Quad and Building number of the residence, as well as the specific floor desired, and the reason or activity for which the information will be used. SHS' approval of the request can then be forwarded directly to Maps and Records via email as above.

Requests for residence information in preparation for the Draw:

"Draw" requests for floor plans should be made with the RSAS or Residential Student Affair Specialist (the "Red Ed Person") for the specific residence in question. RSAS information for Row houses may be obtained from the Residential Education Office in Grove Mayfield (3-0778). RSAS information for all other student living areas can be obtained from the central Residential Education Office in 306 Old Union (5-2800).

For additional information about this policy, please contact Imogen Church, Undergraduate Housing Operations Manager at Residential & Dining Enterprises, 670 Lomita Drive, or via email to ichurch@stanford.edu.
